Mr Alf. Snowball, of Dannevirke. paid a flying visit to Masterton on Saturday last. Mr Snowball has arranged that two prominent representatives of the local No-license Party shall visit Dannevirke in the interests of Nolicense.
Mr G. A. Clark, who has relinquished the position of. manager of the Bank of New Zealand at Martinborough, to take up the management of the branch of., the same Bank at Levuka, was presented last week by bis Martinborough friends with a gold ' watch as a token of esteem.
The friends of Mr J. Georgeson, of Masterton, will be pleased to learni that his mother, who has been lying ill at Gisborne, is gradually recovering her health. Mr ■Georgeson, who has been visiting Gisborne, returns to Masterton. to-day.
The remains of tho late Mrs George Wyeth were interred in the Masterton cemetery on Saturday afternoon. There was a large following of old residents, and an impressive ceremony was performed by Ensign Avenell, of the Salvation Army.
Mr J. W. Foreman a. few days ago severed his connection with'the Clifton County Council (Taranaki) after twenty years' continuous service.
"Billy" Higgins, the well-known cross-country rider, who rode Phaetonitis to victory in the Grand National Steeplechase iV'JfOJ?, is at pr«ent :in inmate of Ilio Wangaiiui Hospital, where he had io hive his arm ampntated, owing to Wood poisoning.
