Donaldson defeated Postle hi throe championship sprints over 100 yards by 2ft in 9 7-10secs, 110 yds by Ift 1:1 lOlsecs, and 130 by 3ft in 12 o-lOsecs. Hoi way also started, but was quilo outclassed.

Professor Lowell has announced that from a Hag-station at Arizona he has discovered that there is frost on the . planet Mars. He adds that close observation for a fortnight aeords a complete proof that tho old theory that the polar caps on Mars are due to carbon dioxido is discredited.

The sale of Crystal Palace to a syndicate, which was announced some days ago, has been confirmed. The price was £210,000.

The police are in possession of information which, leads to the belief that .the murderer of Trevascus (who was found dead in his room in a suburb of Sydney) is in Queensland.
A new arrival went to work on a farm, and his actions attracted attention.
When the police decided to make further enquiries, they found that the man had mysteriously disappeared.

Asquih. replying to a deputation of suffragettes, stated that personally he had never seen his way clear to support women's suffrage, because he was unable to persuade liim&elf that it- was good for the State. The majority of his colleagues favoured women's suffrage, but the Opposition was as much divided as the Ministerialists.
