Do Vene has been sentenced to fourteen years' penal servitude for using fire-arms against the police.
A cablegram on October loth stated that a man named De Vene, described as an artist, -who was brandishing a loaded revolver against the police, and who was also a mod with a dagger, was arrested at Holbom. De Vene confessed that lie had attempted to shoot •some detectives after' a raid on a shop in. Oxford Street.
