One CauJheld trainer held the double in the Cups, and stood to wiini £27,000, hut kid off £II,OOO. The owner of Parisian, w3io is known as a lagjht bettor, is credited with winning £40,000. line owners of Lady Medallist and riiriaian each backed the- winning doubles on the declaration of the weights.

Tike many firiendis of Ronald Cameron, the wiell-known ex-New Zealand horseman, aaid son of Mir S. Cameron, of Feilding, woH be plieiasiad to bear of his having ridden the winner (The Parisian) of the Melbourne Cup. Cameron began riding at the age of 14 under trainer J. Maher. He w&s successful for some seasons, has wins including the Foxton Cup, Canterbury Cup, New Zealand St. leger and Feilding Oup (on Bourrasque), and miany other races. Cameron made his appearance in the saddfle in Victoria in 1908, wihen he rode Dtusky Mlorn, ini the Newmarket Handicap. A season later he whb again in Victoria, and piloted Scgnor into second place in the Essendon Stakes, third place in the Australian Cup, and second place in the Ol.nnpion Stakes. Going to Sydney, Cameron won the AM Age Stakes on Mbn.toa.lm, in £he record, time of 1 man. 3735ec,5., fior the male-. Later he made a trip to New Zealand, and then' retx-iriied to take up Iris residence in> Melbourne. Since then lie has been singularly saiceeisaful in iiirippntant races, hia wins including the Rlandwrick Plate on Tflafalga-r, and the Oakileigjh Palate and Oaulfield Futurity Stakes on TJilairgour.
