The death is announced by cable from New York of Mr Joseph Smith, head of the at Salt Lake City. Mr J. K. Homblow, formerly of Pahiatua, has been elected to represent the Manawatu County and Foxton Borough on the Palmerston North District Hospital and Charitable Aid Board.
m Mr T. G. Mason, who has been residing in England for the last year or two, will shortly pay a return visit to Masterton.
The Dunedin Star states that Mr Angus McDonald, clerk of the Clutha County Council, will be the Ministerial candidate for the Clutha seat at the coming election. '
At Featherston yesterday afternoon, Miss Eva Lawry, youngest daughter of the late Mr Thomas Lawry, was married to Mr Gordon Holdcroft, son of Mr G. Holdcroft, of Tauherenikau.
Mr L.. C. Hawk, was presented with a case of pipes by his friends in Featherston, prior to his departure for Yvanganui.
