WORKERS' BUILDING SOCIETY.

ANNUAL MEETING.

The annual meeting of the shiareISoldeirs of the Masterton Workers' Mutual Beaiefit Building Society was held in the secretary's office on Thursday evening; Mr R. Kr aha gen presiding over a good attendance.

The minutes of the last annual meeting, directors' report and balr ance sheet were read by the secretary, and confirmed on the motion of thei chairman, seconded by Mr Bartlett.

The three retiring directors, Mt.ffi s Krahagen, Johnston, and Ewington, were re-elected, and, Mr G. .W. .V'.llar was re-etected' auditor, Mr G. Hyde moved and Mr C. E. Daniel! seconded that a hearty <.to of thanks be accorded to the directors and the secretary for the nble manner in which they had earned out the business of the Society -luring the past year. Mr Hyde said that the Society was fortunate in its directors and secretary, and tin? sound financial' position and the increase- in their business' was due mainly to tflioir careful' administration..

The motion was carried unanimously. Tlie chairman stated that the ballot for £3OO free of interest wfould be proceeded with. Messrs C. E. Daniell and R. I\ Harcombe were appointed scrutineers, .and Mfs Hanley was asked to draw the numbers from the box. Mi' Gordon Hnghan, of Carterton, was declared tilie win- • ner of the ballot. Tlhe chairman then called for tenders for another £3OO free of interest. Two tenders were received and that of Mr James Budkton at £4O, being the Highest, was accepted. A hearty vote of tlianks_ wins accordedl the chairman for presiding at the meetings during the y-e-ar, and in acknowledging ttihis Mr Kiraliagen stated that he was very proud of the results of the year's transactions, and pointed out to the shareholders tl'xat the sum of £1350, including the £GOO just disposed of, had been allotted by 'the Society since August last, the end of the, financial year. He luiped to cal the shareholders together to. assist in the disposal hf another £3OO in a month's time.
