CONGREGATIONAL SUNDAY SCHOOL
, ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATIONS. The public meeting in connection ! with the third anniversary of the J Congregational Sunday School was ! held last evening, a good gathering being present. The annual distribu- , tion of prizes took place, a number : of anniversary hymns were sung by I the children, and the secretary's and ! lißrarianV reports, and the balance ! islieet, were" presented. A very inter- '• esting address on the subject of "The . Limits of (Responsibility" were given by the Kev. M. B. Harris. The reports showed that the school has been making substantial progress* in every way. The roll number now stands at 60, and the registers record asi average attendance of over 50 scholars. There are seven very energetic and faithful teachers and two emergency teachers, on the staff. The school has this year acquired a library of upwards of 160 entirely new books, the cost of these being defrayed by a series, of very successful concerts held during the winter month's. The secretary's report made reference to the sterling work done by the Superintendent (Mr Shooismith) in promoting the best interests both of the school as a w;hole and of the individual scholars. The Balance sheet showed a credit (balance on all accounts of £6 10s 4d. Presentations were made by the school to the conductor of the (Mr D. B. Clough), and the organist (Miss Lexie Green), and fay the senior boys to their teacher, i Mrs Hodge.
