MISREPRESENTATION.
In the absence of a defined policy, the nominees of the Government are devoting themselves largely to misrepresenting the attitude of the Opposition on the land and other questions. One candidate in the. South—his name is Paul—had the temerity to assert that Mr Massey proposed to sell the national endowments. It is .hardly necessary to say that such a statement is entirely contrary to fact. Other candidates are stating that Mr Massey is out to repeal the Advances to Settlers Act, the Old Age Pensions scheme, and so forth. These reckless and unfounded, assertions are ,so transparently false that they could only be given utterance to by men who are destitute of principle and devoid of manliness and chivalry. As a matter of fact, Mr Massey is out for clean, administration and reform in our system 1 of government, and only those who wallow in the mire of political corruption would represent him as otherwise.
