NAPIER-GISBORNE RAILWAY.

The fat is in the fire over the Nap-ier-Gislborne railway. The Government has, apparently, decided that the railway shall run along the coast line a considerable distance from the north from Napier. The Hastings folk urge that this is an outrageous waste of money, and that the line should be sent out from Hastings to open up a large slice of country. Hastings undoubtedly has common-sense on its side. Napier, however, has the "pull." And that township which has the strongest "pull" must win in these days.
