Mr John Fleming, of Waipawa, died in the Masterton Hospital yesterday, after an illness lasting about three months. '
Mr and Mrs Alex. Pryde, of Nireaha, who have been on a visit to the Old Country, returned to Wellington yesterday," via Sydney, by the Ulirroaroa.
In the House of Representatives yesterday, Mr W. C. Buchanan, M.P., read a letter of appreciation from the Stock and Agricultural Committee of the House, addressed to Mr Frank Lawry, who is retiring from politics after twenty-four years in the House and twenty-one years Chairman of the Committee.
A letter of appreciation of Mr T. Parata's services in the House of Representatives was recorded by the Native Affairs Committee yesterday.
A complimentary concert was tendered to Miss Thelma Petersen in the Opera;Hbuse, Palmerston North, last evening.
A cable message states that, there an enormous attendance at the funeral in London of Mr Fred Wright/, the veteran actor, and father of Mr Bertie Wright, who recently appeared in Masterton with the "Our Miss Gibbs" Company. Messrs Cuddie, Singleton and Graham, of the Dairy Division of the Agricultural Department, were visitors to the Carterton show yesterday. Mr C. dimming, the newly-appoint-ed Editor of Publications under the Government, is among the visitors to the Carterton show. His Excellency the Governor has undergone a slight operation to his arm. This will prevent his attending the Carterton show and fulfilling other engagements for the next few days.
Mr L. P. Larsen has consented to be nominated for a seat on the Mauricevilla County Council.
The many friends of Mrs J. Frank?, will regret to learn of the death of her mother, which occurred at lier residence, Bannister Street, , Master ton, after a brief 'illness.
