DYNAMITE OUTRAGE

PRESIDENT TAFT'S ESCAPE ATTEMPT TO WRECK HIS TRAIN. (Received Last Night, 11.50 o'clock.) NEW YORK, October 17. A report from. Santa Barbara, a spaport town in California, states that twonty-six sticks of dynamite were discovered on. the Southern Pacific Railway's stee'l bridgo before the passing of President Taft's train. A watchman fired shots- at a suspicious character, who was loitering near t-*e track.

Upon investigation, it was found that the dynamite outrage was believed to be .in connection with the strike of shopmen employed on the railroad. President Taft has not been informed of the discovery.
