" f '-'' The Oomotnerce and Tourists division of the Department of Agriculture, Ctomsnerce, and Tourists has received the following cablegram from the High Comamssioner for New Zealand, doted London, 14jfch October, 1911. (Note.— Quotations, unless otherwise specified, are average market prices on spot).— - { Mutton.— The market is quiet. There is a dull sale for all qualities, but holders are firm. Canterbury 4Jd, North Island 3f per.lb. Lamb.— The market isr weak on account of supplies of home grown lambs being heavy and lowering the prices of New Zealand lambs. Canterbury ojd., other tflran Canterbury sd, Scotch Hill 43d per lb. Beef. — The market is dull. There is. little demand, aiid supplies' are large. New Zealand hinds, 3i<l; fores lb. Butter.- The market is rather quiet on account of the high prices. Buyers cf butter are holding back, expecting prices to go lower. Danish 1465, Siberian 1275, Australian 132s per cwt. , Cheese.— The'.market, is quiet, and prices slightly weaker. Forward transactions .in cheese are very limited at present quotations,; but future prospects are good. 69s 6d, English cheddaa- 86s. •
