In the- House of Reperesentativesi this riiernoon, Sir Joseph Ward gave the following list of Bills he proposed going on wtith this session: —Auckland University College Amendment B'ili, University of Otogo Council Bill, Tramways Amendment BiL 1 , Methodist Church of New Zealand Bill, Arbitration and Conciliation Bill, Cliristchureh District Drainage Amendment Bill, Elingami/te Re-hearing Bill-, Parapara (Iron Industry) Bill, Dnnedin Technical School Site Bill, Shipping and Seamen Amendment Bill., Rating Amendment Bill, Land Tax and. Income Tax Bill, Public .Works Amendment Bill, w ldlowis Pensions Bill, Old Age Pensions Amendment Bill, N.Z. State Guaranteed Advances Amendment -Bill, New Zealand Notes Bill, Education Reserves Amendment Bill, AueMand Grammar School Site Bill, Ooal Mines Amendment, Bill, Farmers' Bank Bill, Railways .Authorization Bill, Land foiv Settlement Bill, Stamps Adjustment Bill, Local Elections and - oils Amendment Bill, Government Blailfwayis Bill (increase of rail Way men'& wages), Legislative Amendment Bill, Superannuation Amendment Bill, Native Land Adjustment Bill, Workers' Compensation Amendment Billl, Mining Amendment Ball (dealing with the oil industry), Municipal Corporations Bill, and possibly a few others. The Premier said that the Local Elections' Bill wia& to provide for those peopie. wfho were admitted to a polling .booth for the purpose of voting but who were prevented from exercising that right by the closing time being called before the voting paper could be served. Only a few of the measures were at all con-tea-ttious, and if meanibers applied, themselves to their work, the business should be completed by the end of next week. With regard to Looal •Bills, he was willing to give a morning for that purpose. in reply to a question, the Premier said he did not intend to circulate a Local Government Bill this session. A measure hlad been drafted, and contained some 500 clauses, xie )Was of opinion that the Ball would take a whole session to defoaie. The . Bill would her introduced next session. He was convinced that the jmrrying o'Uft otf Local 'Government should Be done on an eii(tirely different basis to anything eohtempdated so far. He was infornbed by the chairman of the MokauInquiry Committee thlat the report of .the emqwiry would in all probabik ity ,be presented to the House on »»ed!nesday. He did not propose to go 6n with any Bills which would not come into, operation until after next (session. This course ' would enable ' tHe Htouse to expedite the more urgent business. '
