SOME FURTHER EVIDENCE. By Telegraph —Pre« Association. WELLINGTON, Last Night,. ,' The petition of the Taupo Timber Company was again bettiore the Special Conumittee to-day. iH. J. ,H. Blow, Under-Secretary of Public Works, gave evidence. The Company's line w as a light one, and worked ,by ispeciaJ' milling stock. Theengine took 'eight hours to run fifty males. The line was not up to tlie 'Standard of the Government railways and considerable expendi-tm-e would be necessary .before it could be authorised to carry pai&seriger traffic- At present it was fit for light traffic 'at low speed, if that would suit, the requirements- of the district.
