OPENING THE SEASON. -- " ' The bowling season was opened i: Masterion 'yesterday .under most aus picious circumstances. Tlie weathei •though threatening, was fine,' an - the atmosphere was just cool enoug to .make things pleasant. Besides large number of members a& friends, and quite a bevy of ladiet visd-tors were present from Welling ton, Eeatherston, Carterton, Eketa b luina, and Paimerston North. Tli fc green wasi in good order, and player t well, though naturally a little on th I heavy iside. The President of th> t- Chub (Ml- S. Inder) opened the pro : ceedings with a neat speech, in ,whicl he expressed pleasure at seeing s< > many ladies, present, and extende< i a hearty welcome to non-bowlers. H< > stated that whilst ibowling was a ven 1 engrossing game, it was not neoess ary to sacrifice business for it. The. Wairarapa Bowling Centre Ira'd done M'aslterton the honour of niiakiiig its! Afternoon tea was supplied by. Mrs .Inder, assist-, ed-.by a-.number of lady friends, and music was rendered by Mr Reihana Boyes' string band.
