ON AUSTRALIAN COAST - FEARS FOR THE GREW. (Received Last Night, 9.25 o'clock.) SYBNEY, October 12. The steamer Macleay is ashore at y Brottghton Island. The particulars to hand are meagre. It is feared that the vessel is a total wreck, and that many lives have been lost. Two sailors came ashore on planks, and stated that they feared the vessel was ibreaking up. Wreckage'is coming ashore near Newcastle, it is supposed from the Macleay. Two tugs have been dispatched to i Broughton Island. There were no passengers aboard the Macleay, but the, crew numbered twenty, of whom only two are known to be saved. j :■ The Macleay is a vessel of four liun- | dred tons, and belonged to the North [ Coast Company. She was bound from Newcastle tp the Clarence river. It is supposed that she foundered in a fog. . . I
