ENCOURAGING HORSE-BREEDING
SUGGESTED SUBSIDIES. (By Telegraph— Press Association.) WELLINGTON, Last Night. The Minister for Agriculture stated, in reply to a question in the House of Representatives this afternoo"' that the Government was very desirous of encouraging horse-breed-ing on proper; lines. It is,,, however, probable .that aary monetary' assistance that may be given cOuttd, with' .greater advantage to settlers generally, be'devoted to establishing a system •■•'". of, subsidies for aproved sound stallions, on lines similar to those .upon which the King's premiums are granted at Home. The whole matter is iiow being considered -by the Government.
