ACCIDENT AT PONGAROA

A NARROW ESCAPE. A miraculous escape from a seriou-- accident occurred at Pongaroa on Tuesday. Mr Winchester, manager of the Bank of New. Zealand, accompanied by Mr Carey, dentist, was driving up the .cutting near .the township, and which is in the direction of the school,' when'the horse attached to the vehicle jibbed, and the gig was precipitated over the bank of the stream near by, a drop of between 30ft and 40ft. The occupants of the vehicle escaped with a few scratches and bruises. The horse was not hurt, but the Vehicle sustained some damage.— Herald.
