SALE OF RACEHORSES (Received Last Night, 11.10 o'clock.) SYDNEY,' October 6. At a sale of racehorses, the New Zealand horse Sunburnt brought £2OO, and Ohinchin £l6O. RIFLE ASSOCIATION MEETING. The Rifle Association meeting has commenced in fine weather. The opening matches are confined to local riflemen. A number of New Zealanders will compete in the later events.
COLLISION ENQUIRY. The enquiry into the Nera-Taviuni collision has been opened. The evidence is conflicting. MADAME MELBA. Madame Melba lias recovered from her illness, and will probably reappear on Monday. It is estimated that her enforced absence meant a loss of £6OOO in the takings.
