CONCILIATION COUNCIL
MEETING IN MASTERTON.
A meeting of the Conciliation; Council was held in Masterton yesterday, .to;dra^:^'' , a.new ; 'award, !i iii-' connection with the builders,; and carpenters of the Masterton district. Mr P. H'ally (Cbrbciliation Ooiiniissioner) presided. The. employees ~ were represented by Messrs Hazell, Barras and Welton. The employers'assessor®, were Messrs C..-E. Daniell; J. M. Ooradine and. Alexander: An agreement was arrived at, and will become an aAvard for the next two years, as fbllowis:— Hours., 44 , per•:; week; rate,of ..wages Is 4fd-..per hour; conditions the same- as Wanganui and Palmerston'North", with' preference to Unionists. The hours under ■*' the existing award are 47 per. week, and the rate of wage Is 3d per hour. ■ ''■'■
