LADY MEDALLIST WINS CRAVEN PLATE.

SYDNEY, October 4. Following -were the results of today'sl racing:—

Second Hurdles.— Jules 10.9, 1; Ennis'belle 12.13, 2; Fiddlestring 10.6 3. Ten starters, including Pabau. Won by a length, six lengths between second and third. Pakau fell. CRAVEN PLATE. Lady Medallist (tiarnert) 8.13, 1; Malt King (Black), 9.4, 2; Aurofodina ..(Smith) 9.0, 3. Eleven starters. Cisco jumped to the front, followed by Malt King, Beverage, and Philio. When the field had settled down, Comedy King took charge from Cisco, ißeverage and Malt King being the nearest attendants. Cisco was again in front, with Respect, at six fairlongs, a length clear of Beverage, .with Aurofodina, Comedy King, Malt King, Los Angelos, and Lady Medallist in that order. There was

/ little change at the half mile, exj cept that Beverage ran into second , and Malt King into.third place. Aut rofodina showed the way round the ) 'bend and' well into the straight from I Cisco, Beverage, Comedy King, and Lady .Medallist. GUINEAS WON BY MISCOUNT

ASIINGvS, Last Night. The weather was fine and the course in good order for the opening day of the Hawke's Bay meeting. The attendance was. fair. Lord Islington was the guest of the Jockey Club. The amount put through the totalisator was £10,269. Results.— Tomoana Hack, one mile and threequarters.— Espartero 1, Polynioes 2, Morecombe 3. Also started.— Donzel, Cullinan, Scots Fusilier, Castlesicle. Won by a neck, More-, combe six lengths away third. Time 3min, 20sec. Cullman, lost his rider at the obstacle .at the rear of the course the first time round.

Maiden Hack, seven furlongs.— Outward 1, Ovation 2, Loch Mahin 3 Also started.— Ste.llaris, The Nut, Pipeclay, Right Oili, Ngakau, Bandalero, Fusilier, Suffragist, Esmeh, Merriwee, St, Gozo, Warscare. At the railway bend Outward and Ovation were racing neck and neck. In a good finish Mr Oi'omond's. filly lasted the longest. Loch Mahin came through at the finish, and beat Esmeh for third place. Flaxmere Hack, six furlongs.— Meremere 1, Gold Circle 2, San Pluie 3. Also started— Peacemaker, Vega, Mangaroa. A great race home resulted in Meremere' landing the verdict by inches, Gold Circle a neck from San Pluio, the rest close up. Time, lmin. 15 2-ssec.

Also Formulate, Our Queen. From a fair start Our Queen shot-to. the front -After covering a ifurlong Formulate took 1 command, with Royal Scotch and" St. Petersburg near attendants. At the willows the order was Royal Scotch, St Petersburg racing together, with Our Queen and Miscount close up, and -ormulate last. Miscount put in his run at the* turn for home, and tlw trio settled down to businessi. A great race ensued, Mr Ormond's colt winning by a head, half a neck between .Royal Scotch and St. Petersburg. Our Queen was fourth, Formulate bringing up the rear. Time, lmin. 41iSec. Hastings Stakes, of 250 sovs., 4 furlongs.— Glade 1, Vocation 2, Eumengarde 3. Won by three lengths, a length between second and third. Time, 48 2-sseo.
