Mr George. Boagey, of the Masterton Post Office, is at present acting as relieving postmaster at Greytown. A Press Association message from Dunedin announces the death of Mr William Bridgemaii. aged 83, who was several times Mayor of Caversham before its amalgamation with Dunedin.
Inspector Bakewell, of the Wellington Education Board, is at present examining the Lansdowne and other schools in the Masterton district.
A Sydney cable -"states that Mr James Thompson, the well-known studma:ter, is dead, after a short illness.
Dr. W. H. Butemcnt, who was for some years in practice in Masterton, is paying a visit to this town.
The Rev. A. Cameron has been nominated by the Dunedin Presbytery as Moderator for 1912 of the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church. Mr Russell Cook, who has been on the Dannevirke staff of the Union Bank of Australasia, has resigned his position to take up farming pursuits at Takapau. ..j^
Mr S. Bartlett has resigned iiis position as Clerk of Works' for the Buohanan Home at Greytown, and Mr W. B. Rowntree has been appointed in 'his stead.
A Christdhurch telegram states that Mr David Sturrock; second engineer on the steamer Rotorua, was found N dead in his bed yesterday morning. At the inquest, a verdict was returned that death was due to heart failure.
The death occurred at Inglewood at ft late hour on Tuesday evening of Mr .Alexander Gow, M.A., assistant master at the local .school. Deceased was but 31 years of age, and had been ill only tOiree weeks.
The marriage of Miss Lama Evelyn (Era), eldest daughter of Mr and Mrs Robert "Wilton, of Rangitumau, to Mr Walter J., youngest son of Mr and Mrs Joseph Stevens, of Carterton, takes place at the homestead of the bride's parents to-day.
An apology for absence from Mr W. Moore was received at the meeting of the Wairarapa Hospital and Charitable Aid Board yesterday. It was stated that Mr Moore was confined to the Greytown Hospital. The hope was expressed by the chairman that Mr Moore would speedily be restored to health.
At a. meeting'in Timaru last night, an address was presented to Dean Tubman, who has l>een parish priest; there for 14 years, congratulating hinr on the completion of the new church.: Purses from several organisations, totaling over £7OO, were presented to ; him. The Dean said he would devote the e gifts towards the purchase of a £IOOO organ and other requisites. He announced that £14,600 was to be spent on the church, the whole of which sum had been paid but £3OOO, and of this- sum £IBOO was in hand.
. Mr W. Gray, Principal of the Wellington Training College, has been appointed Principal of the Presbyterian JLadies' College in Melbourne. He commences his new duties next February. Mr Gray was born-at Milton, aiid finished his education at Otago University, taking his M.A. degree in I 1897, and his B.Sc. degree in 1901.- | After teaching in primary schools, he became. Vice-President of the Dunej din Training College. Then he was appointed Chief Inspector of Schools jin the Wianganui District, and went Ito Wellington as piincipal of the [Training College in 1906.
