HEALTH OFFICER CRITICISED
ALLEGED SUPERFICIAL INSPECTOR. By Telegraph — Press Association, CKRISTCHURCH, Last Night. At a meeting of the. City Council, .last nighit, severe strictures, were passed on the District Health Officer regarding the alleged superficial inspection by ham of buildings' condemned a® insanitary. The- case of two houses at St. Albans, condemned recently, was cited, and one speaker alleged that after the had himself inspected them toe- was of the opinion that they were good for ten or fifteen years. It wais further alleged, that the inspection w.as confined to the exteriors of ibuildinigs, and the iispeaker said it was 'a .seamdalous ishame that order? luxd been issued for their destruction.
Dr Fimchi, District Health Officer, when seen by a reporter on the isaibject, said that he did not care to discuss the matter at present, save to say that he would take' steps to vindicate the good name of the Department. He did not know of which houses reference had been made. In reply to a question, he stated thai the condition of a number of houses ■which, had: lately, been condemned was brought under his notice toy the inspectorial staff of the City Council.
