STABBING AFFRAY.
FRACAS ON" A STEAMER. A CHINESE SEAMAN WOUNDED. A. .stabbing aifray orcurred on board the tramp steamer Waikure on her journey from Auckland' to Wellington in continuation ■.of. her voyage from New York. About eleven 'o'clock on •Monday night, when ithe rest of the crew were in their hunks, two Chinese seamen had a dispute over, some matter, and during the-quarrel one of (the disputants wa« .severely sta&bed about the head and arm. The other then made off withi a. knife in his kind. The captain •covered Mm with a revolver, while .the mate relieved him of his weapon. He was placed under arrest, «.nd handed over to the police at Wellington. Subsequently he. was charged at the Magistrate's Court with liaving assaulted Wcngßhee. Accused. (R. Wong) was remanded till tlie 11th inst. Bliee's injuries are severe, but Ms condition is l not regarded as critical.
