SYDNEY, October 1. Speaking at the dinner in honour of Eight Hours' Day, Mr Andrew Fisher, Prime Minister of the Commonwealth, declared that wiiat the Labour party Was fighting for was a standard if comfort below which the wife and family of no worker should have to exist. The Federal Government was taking care that the prosperous years would not caiue them to run out, and thus bring disaster on the toiling masses when the lean years come. The whole of the interest from the note issue was being held in reserve against a national alamitoy, or providing for the extinguishing of the national indebtedness.
Referring to the late referendum, Mr Fisher said lie intended malting another appeal to the country on the question.
