The explosion preceded the outbreak of tiie.^ Several officers perished when attempting to flood the magazines. The electrical machines jammed. Admiral Bellue emphasises that there were nineteen minutes botween the two first explosions, which preceded any sign of fire, and the .final catastrophe—the same interval in the Jena case. PARIS, September 23. The .first-subscription on the Bourse for the victims' families brought; £-iOOO. The French Press Association has opened a national relief fund.
