EXPORTS AND IMPORTS.
Among't'hose who profess to see some causie- for anxiety in the shrinkage of values of exports and "tine increase in .values of imports is the editoir of the "New Zealand Trade- Review." "Am far as can 'be seen at present/' states the "Review," "our exports will (be approximately £2,000.000 behind the previous season, while, on the other hamd, our imports continue to igjrow steadily. A year ago the excess, of exports over imports was close, on £6,000,000, while for the year to Joine 30th last the was some £2,500,000, and the continued decline in exports makes- it appear that this balance will foe areduoed at the close of the current quarter. It is" impossible to arrive 'at an exact (balance in these thijigs owing to tlhe effect of ..loan money conning in, in'the form, of goodiS, but from the very high. toial reached by our importe it would appear that a •meaS'Ui-e ci oa.ut.ion is advisable on the part of our importers."
