If the relatives of thie man 'were wealthy, a reward would probably be offered for the recovea-y of ih£s body, dead or alive. But they happen to be poor people, and are therefor© helpless. Ln a ca.se of 'this sort, .the Orown mdgihit reasonably offer a reward. It offers rewards for the capture of escarped .convicts. Wlhy should it not act similarly in the case of a man wGiio disappears in a mysterious, manner? The circumstances surrounding the Kingdon disappearance are such as to demand the adoption of every legitimate means for (unravelling the mystery.
