The Master of Elibank, writing to Lord Gladstone from Kilmarnock, reproaches lli9 Labour Party for forcing a triangular contest, and conspiring against the Ministry, w'hich, -he says, is seeking to improve tihe hard lot of the 'mosses. He adds: "There is little wonder that past Ministries have been shy at undertaking great reforms." STRIKES AND LOCK-OUTS. (Received Last Night, 9.45 o'clock.) LONDON, September 22. The trade report on strike and lockouts, states that over half a million workers were' affected in 1910.

STRIKES IN IRELAND. A'GENERAL STRIKE DECLARED. INTIMIDATION OF WORKERS. (Receive! Last Night, 9.45 o'clock.) ... LONDON, September 22. The Railwaymen's Executive not receiving a reply front the companies, huve declared a general strike over Irish railways. The railway clerks at Cork have declined tihe request of the Companies to assist with the handling of baggage and goods. A meeting of the Cork Chamber of Commerce requested Government action to enable the companies to maintain their services. There has been a slight improvement in the train services. Complaints have 'been made of intimidation at a number of workers' houses in Dublin through the occupiers having gone to work a train. Tihe windows of the houses were smashed in the Southern district®. Mobs at Tralee stoned the loyalists. A force of ' artillery arrived from Waterford.

Lord Aberdeen is returning to Dublin forthwith. The timber merchants have announced that unless the workers return forthwith their places will be filled and work resumed.
