The death occurred at Wellington .yesterday of Mr Nicholas Helliwell, ■aged 85 years.

Mr C. A. Tabuteau is representing the Wairarapa Employers' Association at the annual conference of the "Employers' Federation in Wellington. From a list of six applicants Mr M. Ayre has been appointed clerk to the 'Otaki Road Board.

The death is announced from Christchurch of Mrs Smith, mother of Mr A. Smith, of Otaki.

Mr Levitt, who has been a resident of Otaki for a number of years, died at the hospital on Sunday after a short illness.

Mr J. J. Mead intends relinquishing business at Eketahuna at the end of this month, to take up business in Hastings.

The death has occurred at Palmerston North of Mrs Ellen Pittam, wife of Mr William Pittam, of that township.

Mr D. Kelley, manager of the Konini factory, had the misfortune to severely injure his hand whilst engaged at his work one day this week.

Mr Gideon Jamieson, a pioneer of T the Manawatu district, died on Tuesday, aged 87. He arrived in the district in 1877 from Southland and had resided at Awapuni, near Palmerston, the time of his death.
