BOMBAY, September 17.
•Sir Sydenham Clarke's announcement of a reduction on the number of race meetings in Western India, with the banishment of bookmakers and bhe substitution of the totalisator, embarrasses the Indian Government through involving the State in a- recognition of a certain method of betting. Sir Sydenham Clarke did not consult the Government in the matter.
