CHINGTU REBELLION

PEKIN, September 17. Ten tliousand men, armed with, matchlocks, are besieging Ohingtu. Defective communications delay the possibility of reinforcements. Tsen Clrunshu, a former viceroy at Szechuan and Kwangtung, who ruthlessly suppressed tdio previous rebellion, has been sent to the disturbed districts. The officials at Chingtu fear that any attempt to. raise the siege may send two thousand * modern drilled troops, who are outside tihe walls, but neutral, over to the rebels.
