Cairmiiehael '(ex J Governor 0 f Victoria), who has been appointed Governor of Madras in succession to Skr Arthur Lawley, and invested him with the insignia of tihe Grand Cross of the Indian Empire. His Majesty also knighted Mr G. R. Asikwith, of the Board of Trade, wjio has don© good work in connection with the settlement of strikes.
