HON. T. MACKENZIE.
The Hon. T. Mackenzie has, it is stated, received telegrams firom every port of the Egmont electorate asking him to contest that seat in the Government interest. That is aM very well as a feeler. It reads very nice on paper. But why does the Minisrter not receive telegrams firom thte adjoining electorate of Stratford, wihioh. is represiented by Mr Hine? The memlber for Stratford has impeached the Government Party in a manner that it has not been impeached' by any other Oppositionist. He has praeifcally challenged! i the Government to contest Ms .seat oa the broad principles of clean governmenlfc which he has enunciated. Will either the Bon. T. Mackenzie or the versatile Attor-ney-General accept the challenge ? In fairness to themselves, and the ren> naint of .their non-Democratic party —vide Mr G. Fowilds—they should show a bold face in this matter.
