HOCKEY TOURNAMENT
Considerable interest is being taken, in the eleven-a-side tournament to be played on the old Showgrounds at Masterton ito-morrow. There are six teams competing, and | it would be very difficult to get this I number of teams, sq evenly matched, jas the ones playing on, Thursday. rTlhe Post and Telegraph, St. MatI thaw's, Excelsior, and Masterton dubs are all on a par, as evidenced iby the closeness of the results in the Cup competitions, the two junior teamis in, the ordinary course being almost.up to senior form, and with the assistance ofa\few senior players, and a handicap'of 5 points, they are almost certain to prove themiseliws tough propositions for the senior teams. The tournament will dommence punctually at 2.30, and the final, will be decided by five o'clock, thus patrons are assured of 2-1 hours' bright, scientific and exhilarating hockey. T7foe price of aaV ' mission has been fixed at 6d, and given a fine afjternoon, there should be a large atteindiance of the public, and the funds of the Solwiay Recogj nition Committee Should be consid- , enahly augmented.
