WELLINGTON FARMERS' MEAT COMPANY

ANNUAL REPORT. Following is the third annual report to be submitted to tie ordinary general meeting of shareholders of the Wellington Farmers' Meat Company, to be held on the 20th in at., ao 1.30 p.m., in Murray's Hall, Masterton: — The year just ended has been full of difficulties consequent on the establisment of the industry, and a large amount of expense bad of necessity to be incurred in organisation. The low values of finozein meat ruling in London for tlhe greater part of. the year and the keen competition for live stock adde dtonisidarably to tlhe reisponis'i'bilitaes of the management. ' It is worthy of note however, tlhat the earnings of .tibe Company to the end of the killing season, are sufficient to wipe out the loss shown in the accounts. The works were opened on December 20tlh, 1910, and the amount of stock handled to June 30th, is as follows: 69,383 sheep, 46,168 lambs, 757 cattle, 135 pigs, 10 calves. It is confidently anticipated, that nest year's returns will! greatly exceed these figures. During the year a pelt-curing departtmenft and a preserving department were added to the works, thus making them complete in practically •aH. details. Tlhe returns from these departments have already justified tlhe capital expenditure incurred. The works will be further increased; this year by an exrtra boiler, an electrical generating set, and an extra wool dryer. Blaporifcs from London on the quality of our meat are very gratifying,, and the W.F.M. brand, is now established among the brokers. Messrs McKenzie and Pain, the retiring Directors, were re-elected unopposed. Your Directors are of opinion that the services of one auditor is sufficient for tihe purpose of the Company, audi nomination* for the office may be received on the day of the meeting. Messrs--Bladiham and Sellar are both eligible for election.
