MELANESIAN MISSION.
ANNUAL SALE OF WORK. ! The annual sale of work in aid of, the Melanesian Mission was held in' St. Matthew's school-room, Masterton", yesterday afternoon and evening. The * stalls were tastefully arranged and well stocked with useful and ornamental articles. Large numbers of people attended, and liberally patronised the sale, recognising its worthy object. Credit is due to the stall-holders and helpers, who, with united effort, quite equalled, if they did not eclipse, last year's function. The stalls and their attendants were as follow: —Refreshments, Misses Holm wood, Fanning and Moore, and Mrs Moore; dolls, Mrs Dagg, Misses Dagg and Townsend; cake, Mrs Smith and Miss Qruickshank produce, Mrs Wimsett; plain work, Mrs De Castro and Miss Bell; fancy work, Mesdames Ladner and Lawrence sweets, Misses Perry, Hirschberg and Summerell; flowers, Misses Perry (3); bran tub, Masses F. Ewington and Petersen; fish pond, Miss Reece and Master de Castro ; sheep-guessing competition, Master de Castro; nail driving, Nurse Bar- < ker; chocolate guessing competition, Miss Dixon. '
