Dr. Valintine -wais married at Christchurch on Saturday last to Miss Vdckers. Mr J. J. Meikle is returning to New Zealand. He is due to arrive at Wellington by the Rotorua.on the 18th inst. Mr W. D. S. McDonald, M.P., who has been laid aside with illness, for some days, was sufficiently recovered yesterday to be able to leave hisbed. Mile. Antonia Dolores, who recently visited Masterton, writes to the editor of the Age that she had a brilliant opening to her concert'season iii Syd-, ney.. '" j Mr R. E. Hornblow, formerly of Masterton, has opened his campaign for the Orouaseat. The Rangiwahia Liberals have affirmed their confidence in him. The Rev. S. J. Serpell, of Masterton, gave an address in Napier last night, on "Bush Life in Australia." A Sydney cable announces the death or Mr F. Lassetter, head of the firm of Lassetter and Company. The death js. announced of Mrs Dick, relict of the late Mr Alfred. Dicky of "Glen Warlock," Kimbolton. Tfifedeceaised lady, who was an old and Mghly rtespected resident of the district,. had suffered for some time from heart trouble. A niece—Mrs R. TJ. Harden —at present resides in Masterton. Mrs Braggins, wife of Mr E. Braggins, of this town, died at her home in South. Queen Street yesterday. The deceased lady, who was an old and highly respected resident of this town, was bo'rn in Wellington sixty-two years Mrs Braggins was the daughter ?of (the tbefl:chief constable of WjeJlingtonv Mrr Burgess Sayer. For the past efepen years she had been an invalid, and : had been bed-ridden for two yearsattfi© time of her death. M)r Braggins,, five sons and two 'daughters, and sixteen grandchildren will have the sympathy of a large circle of friends in their sad bereavement.
