SOLWAY RECOGNITION.
PICNIC ARRANGEMENTS. A meeting of the sub-committee of the Sol way-Recognition Fund was held last evening. There was a good attendance, and Mr 0. Pragnell presided. An attractive programme for the afternoon picnic at Solway on October sth was drawn up, and it was decided to start the programme at 2 o'clock sharp, with children's events, to be followed by jumping competitions (hunters' style), buck-jumping exhibition, by Mr Tas Smith and others, cigarette and umbrella race, keronsene • tin and night dress race; and consolation race, for jump&rsv' Bandsome cups v willibe giv«n- to- the '- winner® of■■ mJ&a. of tnehorseeveiitß, trbpbieSifor second prize In each instance. -The entrance fee for the two jumping" events was fixed at five shillings, post entries in each instance. A feature of the afternoon will be a monster Baby Show, } for which there will be a first and secj ond prize for the best all-round baby, boy for girl, under 12 months. -The charge for admission to the grounds, including grand stand, will be Is for adults, children over 12 years 6d, and under 12 free. Every ch'Ud under seven years of age will receive a. prize.
