At last night' meeting of the Masterton Borough' Council, the Borough Engineer ire-ported thait Mr McLachllan, the County Engineer, had interviewed him with reference (to the making up of the ©aid of (the bridge on, to Queen' Sit. Mr McLachia.n, states -thai he had isome un<k*rstanding of that kind with Mr Mansfield. 'Mir Archer ashed tibe Council if it was their desire .that he sihould continue tlie work and chiairge it rfco the Loan Account. Mr Archer added as a recommendation (that ithe Council do ithe work rather thiain the contractor. The Mayor .said that there was going to 'he a very islfeep approach from Queen; Street. Cr Temple: "The least said about it, thie 'sooner mended." Or Hoax: "Quite Tight." Or Ewington moved, that'the Engineer be requested to isubmit a report An connection with the levels 'before proceeding with the work. -a.- Or Hoar said that a puropeir. agreement with the County Council should be entered initio .'before the road was touched. < The motion was carried.
