WELLINGTON, Last Night,
Private advices from the West Coast report an important discovery of what is believed to be the mother reef from which all the greenstone found there is derived. It is high up in a mountain in the Arahura district and, whether actually the original reef or not, is a vast outcrop of greenstone amounting to' millions of tons. A syndicate h'a's. been formed to exploit it. With greenstone in such quantities its use will no longer be confined to jewellery, arid the idea is ito put it to commercial uses in the form of mantel pieces, table tops, monuments, etc. It is also understood that there will be a large 1 market in China, where greenstone in the form of jade is regarded with peculiar veneration.
