MASTERTON WOOL AND SKIN SALES.
Messrs 'Levin and Co., Ltd., report : —We held our monthly sale of wool, sheepskins, hides, and tallow yesterday, when we offered twenty balea of wool, 1300 sheepskins, 150 hides, and a quantity of tallow, horsehair and rabbit-skins. There was a good attendance of buyers, and all lots offered sold at.... satisfactory prices. Crutchings were hardly up to last sale rates, but the quality coming to hand now is poorer. We quote: Wool. Fleece wool oddments, 6£d to 7d; best crutchings, s|d to 6d; medium crutchings, 5d to ssd; inferior crutchings, 4£d to sd; locks and pieces, 3d to sd. Sheepskins.— Fine crossbred, 6£d to 6§d; good crossbred, 6d to 6£d; hoggets, 6d to 6£d; lambs, 6d to 6§d; dead skins, 5d to s|d; dead hoggets, 5d to ojjd. Hides.—Sound ox and cow, 5d to 5f d; calf, 8d to 9d. Tallow. —In casks, £25; tins, £2l 5s to £2l 10s per ton; rough fat, 16s. Rabbitskins.—4£d to 11 Jd. Horsehair.—To Is 3£d. The Wairarapa Farmers' Co-opera- j tive Association, Ltd., report as fol- ) lows: —We held our monthly sale of I wool, sheepskins and hides yesterday, j when we offered 30 bales wool, 70' bags wool, 1000 sheepskins, 100 hides. and calf skins. There was the usual attendance of buyers, who operated freely .at present market values, . which are on a par with our previous sale, and compare very favourably with the last Wellington sales. We quote:—Wool, Fleece, 6|d to 7sd; fleece.part crutdhings, 6d to 6|d; crutchings, 5d to 6d; crutchings seedy, 4£d; pieces and bellies, 4£d; f dead and black, 6d; locks, 3£d. Sheepskins.—Crossbred fine, 6|d; crossbreds, 6sd; crossbred dead, 5Jd; crossbred inferior, s£d;> half-wools, 6d; half wools inferior, s|d; half wools seedy, 4£d; quarter wools, sd; quarter wools inferior, 4fd; shorts, 4d; shorts, broken. 3|d; shorts, fine wool, 6id; double deckers. 3fd; hoggets, 5%d ; crossbred damp. 3s 3d each; dead damp, 2s 3d each; hoggets damp, Is 7d each. _ Hides.—Cow good, sd; cow, slippy, 3d to sfd; J cow, cut, 5Jd; cow, cut and slippy, 4sd; ox, good, 6|d; ox, slippy, 4|d to sjjd; ox, cut and slippy, 4d; yearlings, 6§d; yearling, slippy. 6d; calf, best, 9d; calf, B|d; calf, slippy, sd; oalf, cut, s|d; horsehides, 6s to 13s each. Messrs Dalgety and Co.. Ltd., report:—We held our usual monthly sale yesterday, when we submitted a small catalogue of wool, skins, hides, and tallow. Prices ruling were easily on a par with last isale rates. Buyers Were well represented, and bidding for choice lots 'was spirited. We quote:—Crutchings, clean, 5Jd to' s£d; crutchings, seedy, 3Jd; fleece, 6d to 6Jd; dead wool, 6|d. Tallow To 20s. Skins.—Quarter wool, . ■ s£d; half wools, sjd .to. 6Jd; dead, 5Jd; hoggets. 3|d to 6Jd; shorts, 4d to sd; pelts, 3d. Hides.—Calfskins, good, to 8d: calfskins, out, 5d to o£d; cow, good; s|d; cow, cut, 4|d; ox, 3d to sfd. Our next sale will be held on Wednesday, October 4th.
The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., report as follows: —We (held our periodical wool, skins, hides and tallow sale yesterday, and competition was good for all sorts, although the market showed a decline all round. Our catalogue comprised 650 sheepskins, 10 bales and 2,4 bags wool, 60 hides and a few tins of tallow. We quote:—Wool.— Crutchings, medium, 4|d to sjd; crutchings, inferior, 4d to 4£d; locks, 3d; crossbred, to 7sd. Skims.—Boggets, 6id; hoggets, dead, 4|d to s"id; half wools, 4Jd to ssd; crossbred, 6d to 6£d; crossbred, inferior, 5d to s£d;J crossbred, damp, 3s 7d, 4s Id, 4s 7d, 4s 9d, to 5s 6d.
