THOMPSON-PAYNE PICTURES.

The current programme was screened for the last time last night at the Foresters' Hall last evening, to an. appreciative audience. The "star" picture in to-night's programme will deal with an incident in the life of Napoleon, entitled "The Grenadier Bjoland." The principal incidents in this great drama are portrayed) with due regard to detail. It is described as an Ambrosia [masterpiece, and is a film with a cast of two thousand. Unequalled scenes of Napoleon' 9 ■disastrous l retreat firom Moscow are comibined with a love story which should! appeal to all. Dealing with one of the smo'st familiar episodes' of history, the disastrous winter retreat .from Moscow of Napoleon's troops, after the city had been fired by the Russians, is realistic in the extreme, .being enacted throughout in a snow-covered landscape giving a vivid idea of the great campaign.' The Essanay Company are well represented in a good cowiboy story full of adventure and daring deeds, entitled "Across, the. Plains." "The writing on the .blotter" exposes the villain in a novel and unexpected manner, and is interestingly told by the Edison Company. The AmericanBiograph Company shows to advantage in. a pretty domestic home drama, "His Daughter." The same Company are seen to advantage in. their latest comedy, called "Misplaced Jealousy." Another "fine picture, the work of the American' (bihn Co., is found in "Abraham Lincoln's Clemency," and is of a thrilling character. A fine range of scenic, industrialand comic, pictures will also be shown. Theusual matinee for children will take place at 2.30 p.m. on Saturday.
