AN ALMOST FORGOTTEN CRIMINAL.

PALMERSTON N., Las% Night. Alt the Supremo Court to-day, a man named John Owen was charged (1) .With attempted murder; (2) with assault; (3) with demanding money with menaces; and (4) with intimidation; aH. arising out of his assault on Augustas Percy Eastion, farmer, at Moutioa, Fositon, on April 21st, 1906. The accused is alleged to have threatened Easton with a knife and axe, an<!) fired' at him- with a single breechloader, while he demanded' money from Easton, who was writing out a cheque for his wages. The prisoner was recognised in Auckland by hi® linger-print, after being arrested for reeisting the police. Owen was found guilty on the 'second charge, and will be sentenced to.morrow.
