BENZINE EXPLOSION.
WHALING LAUNCH DESTROYED

BLENHEIM* Last Night. Early this morning a. whaling launch, owned by Messrs Perano and N Oct.,, of- Pioton, was : totally destroyed by fire in The launch'was beached last (for the purpose of cleaning and: overhauling. On one of the occupants iMghting a lantern; preparatory to be- j ginning ope'ratiohd the benzine' -ig-. mited. This was followed by an ex(plkysion u* dynamite, and the three men were burled some distance along the beach. One, named George Baxter, received painful burns. The 'boat wias. blown to atoms, and everything was' lost, including the whaling gear, and the loss is estimated at close on £BOO.
