DUPLICATION OF AWARDS.
If there is one thing more than another that requires amendment in our arbitration system in New Zealand, it is the aibaurd duplication of awardis in different industries. For example, freezing .works might cover 13 distinct awards, engineers 10, .builders 9, tanners 7, printing establishments 6, farming 6, ibutter factories 3. There are actually at present 51 awards governing these eaghlti industries. On. top of this we find that there are fifteen rules of the Court as to how workmen's wages should be computed. Is there any wonder, in these circumstances, that the unhappy employer finds himself occasionally in a tangle?
