IN THE OPAKI DISTRICT.. The settlers of the Opaki, near Mast&rton,/iwho last year suffered heavy lo&sesi in the early part of the lambing season by the visitations of dogs', are apparently going to have a renewal of the experience this year. On Saturday night last the flocks of Messrs Cotter, Holmwoodl and Bourke were visited by a dog, or dogs, and a considerable number of lambs were destroyed. Settlers arenaturally very much-aggrieved, and, besides laying poison wholesale, intend keeping a vigilant waitch for the. dogs, so that the owner may betraced and-made to pay for the damage done.
