AKITIO COUNTY WORKS.
A BIG CONTRACT LET. The Akitio County Council, whicl? recently carried a proposal to raise a loan of £28,000 for the construction; .of roads* and bridges, and has also secured a'■considerable subsidy from the Government, has' just let a contract: (for three miles of metalling to Mr B. Leathiwdck, of Masterton. The work is to ibe put in hand immediately, and will absorb quite a lot of labour. Other contracts will (be let as opportunity permits. The Akitio County isi experiencing some difficulty in procuring metal, owing to settlers! making demand® for royalty.
