NEW MUNICIPAL BUILDINGS.
The Masterton municipal buildings are Iby no means a credit to the. town. They are, in. fact, out-(of-date and dilapidated. At the :best, they can only serve the purpose, for -which they are being utilised for a limited period. It is just a question whether the time has not arrived when a movement should be mode in the direction of replacing them with something more in keeping with the ether .public institutions of the town. The matter is chiefly one of finance. Jf, as is alleged, the interest on the capital required would be' saved in the gasworks show-room department and in the re-organisation of the staff, there, as- no good reason why the work should not be undertaken at an early date.
