SHORTAGE OF CATTLE IN GERMANY FOOT AND MOUTH DISEASE. (Received Last Night, 11.40 o'clock.) BERLIN, August 17. Seven thousand six hundred and sixty-nine farms are affected with foot and mouth disease. In combination with the scarcity of fodder, a shortage in the slaughter of cattle is apprehended. The Government is considering the reduction of railway rates on fodder. It is possiblo that there will be an importation from abroad.
